Teacher participation in regional and national workshops offered by the Pacific Northwest National Resource Center on Canada is strongly encouraged. Teacher evaluations have consistently remarked that the professional development opportunities provided are outstanding.
WWU Regional Workshops
Besides the STUDY CANADA Summer Institute for K-12 Educators, a variety of regional K-12 workshops are also offered by WWU’s Center for Canadian-American Studies. The topics vary but all are designed to introduce and enhance the teaching of Canada. Also visit the K-12 Calendar.
UW Regional Workshops
Several one-day or weekend educator workshops are offered by the University of Washington’s Canadian Studies Center at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies each year. These programs focus on specific topics which address teachers’ international education interests and may include Canada, in general, or offer a direct lens on Canada. Arctic Studies is a particular area of expertise for the UW Center.
Visit the UW Calendar to view workshops currently offered there.
Occasionally teachers contact us to perform outreach on site at schools. Although we welcome the opportunity to bring Canada into classrooms, unless travel is funded externally by a school, district or other organization, we can only collaborate from our campus locations or suggest alternative ideas, including teacher-associate outreach.
